DR RACHEL VOLCANI

Dr Volcani is a registered NZ GP.  She trained abroad but
moved with her family to Taranaki and fell in love with
the area. Dr Volcani and her family love the outdoors and
almost any sport you can name.

My journey to becoming a GP in New Zealand began in Israel in 2007 where I graduated from Ben Gurion University and went onto working in various hospitals throughout the country. I then worked as a Family Medicine specialist before immigrating to New Zealand in 2017 with my husband and four daughters. What began as a trip for new life experiences in a different country, became a place to call home as we fell in love with everything Taranaki had to offer.

I have a special interest in palliative care, having worked in hospice services in Israel and here in Taranaki with local community hospice nurses. I am also in the process of completing further studies in palliative medicine through Auckland University.

For the last 6 years, I have practiced as a GP at the Opunake Medical Centre, and I am excited to begin my journey as a primary care physician at Healthspace and expand my practice into preventative and holistic primary care, using both medical and lifestyle approaches.

Please note, Dr Volcani is not trained as an Functional doctor
